Everyone should be able to learn with Remi. We design the app and this website to work for as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, larger text or reduced motion, and people who see colour differently.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website, and to follow the same principles, along with Apple’s and Google’s accessibility guidelines, in the app.
What we do
On this website
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels so screen readers can navigate them.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative art is hidden from assistive technology.
- Text and controls are designed for strong colour contrast, in both the light and dark themes.
- Animations respect your device’s reduce motion setting. With it on, the site stays still and every interactive demo still works.
- The interactive demos can be used with a mouse, touch or keyboard, and their sounds are off unless you turn them on.
In the app
- Right and wrong answers are always shown with an icon and words, not colour alone.
- Remi has light and dark themes.
- Settings → Reduce motion calms the app’s animations, and sound and haptics each have their own switch.
- Study sessions are short, so you can learn in small pieces.
- We keep improving screen reader labels and support for larger text sizes.
Known limitations
We’re a young product and we know we’re not perfect yet. Some parts of the app, such as the journey map and some animated celebrations, are visual and may not yet be fully described to screen readers. AI-generated text extracted from images or handwriting can contain errors. We’re working on these.
