Welcome to Remi
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Remi Learn (“Remi”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Remi mobile app, this website at remi-learn.com, our emails and any other place we offer Remi (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, starting as a guest, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Subscription Terms and Content & Copyright Policy, which are part of these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
Who can use Remi
You must be at least 13 years old to use Remi. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Remi only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Service.
You can’t use Remi if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you, or if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms.
Your account
You can start Remi as a guest. A guest profile lives on one install of the app; to keep your notes and progress across reinstalls and devices, create an account with your email address and a password.
You agree to give us accurate information, to keep your password safe, and to tell us at security@remi-learn.com if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. An account is for one person; please don’t share it.
What Remi does
Remi turns material you give it, such as documents, photos of notes, recordings, videos and web links, into study material: summaries, key ideas, lessons, flashcards and quiz questions. It schedules reviews, grades your answers, and tracks your progress. Remi also offers a catalog of courses, books and notes you can add to your library.
We are always improving Remi, so features may change, be added or be removed. Some features may be marked as early or experimental and may not always work as expected.
AI-generated content
Remi uses artificial intelligence to read your material and write study content from it. AI can make mistakes: a summary can miss a point, a card can be wrong, and a grade can be unfair. Remi is a study aid. It is not a substitute for your teachers, your textbooks, or professional advice (medical, legal, financial or otherwise). Please double-check anything that matters. You can remove a question that looks wrong with the flag button, and we’d love to hear about it at support@remi-learn.com.
Your content
“Your Content” means everything you upload or add to Remi (files, photos, recordings, links, text), the answers you give, and the study material Remi generates from it for you.
- You own Your Content. As between you and us, you keep all rights you have in it.
- You give us permission to use it to run Remi. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transform and display Your Content, and to send it to our service providers (including AI providers), only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for copies we must keep by law.
- Your library is private. We don’t publish Your Content or show it to other users. If Remi ever lets you share something, it will only be shared when you choose to.
- You are responsible for what you upload. You confirm that you have the rights needed to upload Your Content and to let us process it as described, and that doing so doesn’t break any law or anyone else’s rights. See the Content & Copyright Policy.
We may use aggregated or de-identified information about how Remi is used (for example, how long sessions take or which question types are answered correctly most often) to improve the Service. That information doesn’t identify you.
Catalog content
Courses, books and notes in Remi’s catalog are provided by us or by our licensors. You may use them through Remi for your own personal, non-commercial learning. Unless the content says otherwise, you may not copy, resell or redistribute catalog content, or use it outside Remi.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use Remi to infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- upload malware, or anything illegal, hateful, sexually exploitative or harmful, as described in the Content & Copyright Policy;
- try to get around limits in the Service, such as daily sparks or storage, or to obtain rewards in ways the Service doesn’t intend;
- access the Service with bots, scrapers or other automated means, or use it to build a competing product;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile the app, except where the law expressly allows it;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, or probe it for vulnerabilities except under our security disclosure policy;
- use Remi to try to make AI models produce harmful content; or
- resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
Sparks, XP and other in-app items
Remi uses in-app items to make learning a game: sparks (study energy), energy cells, streak freezes, battery boosts, XP, levels, streaks, chests, titles, achievements and similar items. You earn most of them by studying, and some can also be bought in the app’s Shop. Whether earned or bought, these items are a license to use a feature of the Service. They have no monetary value outside Remi, can’t be exchanged for cash, can’t be transferred or sold, and aren’t your property. We may change how earned items work, how many you get, or what they do; we won’t take away items you bought without a refund, unless you break these Terms or the law requires it. In-app items end when your account is closed.
On the free plan you can choose to watch rewarded ads to refill part of your battery. Rewards are granted after the ad network confirms you watched the ad, and are limited each day.
Remi Plus and purchases
Remi Plus is an optional subscription, and the Shop offers optional one-off items. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are also governed by their terms. Prices, free trials, renewals, cancellation and refunds are explained in the Subscription Terms.
Ads
The free plan shows ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before ads are personalized. See the Privacy Policy for details and your choices. Remi Plus has no ads.
Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or bug reports, you allow us to use them without any obligation to you. Thank you!
Our rights
The Service, including the app, the website, Remi the cat, our logos, designs, text, graphics and software, belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own learning. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe something on Remi infringes your copyright, follow the process in our Content & Copyright Policy. We close the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
Third-party services and links
Remi works with services we don’t control: the App Store and Google Play, websites and videos you add as sources, and our service providers. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies, and we aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
Ending your use of Remi
You can stop using Remi at any time and delete your account in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete my account, or as described on our account deletion page. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; please cancel it in your store’s settings.
We may suspend or close your account, or limit access to the Service, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others. Where reasonable, we will tell you beforehand and give you a chance to fix the problem and to export Your Content. Sections that by their nature should survive the end of these Terms (such as ownership, disclaimers and limits of liability) will survive.
Disclaimers
We work hard to make Remi helpful and reliable, but we provide the Service “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI-generated content will be accurate or complete, or that using Remi will lead to any particular result, grade or exam outcome.
Some places don’t allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by contract.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Remi Learn and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill or study time, arising from or related to your use of the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) 50 US dollars.
These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law, and that causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to compensate us for the reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) that result, to the extent permitted by law.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where Remi Learn is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
If you have a problem with Remi, please contact us first at support@remi-learn.com. Most issues can be solved quickly that way.
Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Remi from the Apple App Store, you also agree to the following:
- These Terms are between you and Remi Learn, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your license to use the app is limited to using it on Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the App Store’s Usage Rules.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, or consumer protection claims.
- If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property, Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Remi changes or as the law requires. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required sooner by law or to address a security issue. If you keep using Remi after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t, you can delete your account.
General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce a right, we don’t waive it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice to you. These Terms, together with the documents they link to, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
